THE DREAM EATER SAGA • 3/10
The Piper finds himself on the other end of things here. He's used to being the one people need to get away from. Now he's trying to escape the Dream Eater.
His history and what he's been doing on Earth show how willing he is to use his power to punish and exploit people. None of that makes him powerful enough to handle this creature. Baba Yaga pulls him out of its path, but realizing who rescued him doesn't leave him much reason to relax.
Myths & Legends #6 shows how Baba gets there. She initially goes after Samantha Darren because she wants Samantha's power for herself. Then the Dream Eater interrupts their fight. Neither of them can deal with it alone, so fighting each other has to wait.
Samantha gets them to the Inner Sanctum of the Nexus. Baba knows about a possible weapon, but getting to it means reaching another place and another time. They need the Piper for that.
The two chapters overlap. His rescue at the end of his issue fits into the plan Baba and Samantha are putting together in theirs. They're not picking up a willing teammate. They're dragging in someone they need, despite everything he's done.
Samantha wants to protect people. Baba wants to survive and still get her revenge. The Piper is stuck helping people who have every reason to hate him. They're going to have to work together, but there's very little trust to start with.
