As Red Rose, she belongs to the Flowers, and the ongoing Wonderland series brings that danger into an ordinary city setting. The Club Excess storyline draws Violet and her friend Harmony toward a night out that becomes another encounter with the realm's predators.
The drug called Dream is part of the trap. What appears to be a social setting becomes a place where people's senses and judgment are compromised, and the Flowers identify Violet as someone they want to corrupt. Calie has to find her daughter and intervene.
The threat is especially effective because it does not begin with Violet deliberately entering a strange fantasy landscape. It reaches her through a friend, a club, and the desire to have some independence from her mother's constant vigilance.
Red Rose's garden has become something that can extend into other people's lives outside Wonderland. The familiar environment gives the Flowers access to victims who have no reason to understand what they are walking into.
