7/7 The Liddles keep this discussion from becoming a list of people who were changed and then lost completely. Alice, Calie, Johnny, and Violet are all marked by Wonderland, but their responses are not interchangeable. Calie's story has already moved far beyond surviving her first visit. By this point in the ongoing series, she is the White Queen, trying to bring peace to the realm and deal with dangers that can cross into Earth. Her connection to Wonderland has become a responsibility as well as a threat to her family. That leaves an important contrast beside the Hatters, the Tweedles, the Queens, and the fallen White Knight. A new role does not tell us everything about what someone will do with it. The choices and relationships inside that role still matter. Through Wonderland #29, the realm keeps exposing the human lives behind its frightening figures. Those histories are worth following individually. Some reveal cruelty that was already there. Some reveal people being used. Some leave room for resistance.
