Charles Dodgson is another important case, even though his connection to Wonderland often operates from the human side of the mirror. The Redemption backup stories reveal a man who bargained for immortality while facing death, then lived long enough to regret what he had gained.
His wife Monica's place in that history matters. The desire to keep living changes when the people who make that life meaningful are gone. His inability to die becomes its own form of captivity.
At the same time, Charles helps feed the system that traps other people. Sending souls into Wonderland has consequences for families beyond his own. His intervention against Drake cannot be separated from that larger history simply because Drake was already dangerous.
Charles shows how a supernatural bargain can alter a person without giving them an obvious monster's body. He can still stand in an ordinary room and speak to somebody like an ordinary man. The lives he has affected make the scale of the change visible.
