4/7 Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum reverse that process. Their origin begins with one man, Tony, rather than two boys who have always been twins. Tony is an abusive father whose pride in his son's baseball ability is mixed with jealousy. His own father abused him, and Charles Dodgson had sent that man through the mirror years earlier. Tony eventually tries to send his son into Wonderland too, but the attempt turns against him and Tony is the one pushed through. Inside the realm, he splits into the two Tweedles. The physical division makes the conflict within him visible, but it does not free him from the older pattern. The Carpenter they encounter is Tony's own father, transformed by Wonderland as well, and he attacks them. The family history follows Tony into his new body, or bodies. The frightening part is how little the change solves. Wonderland gives the old cruelty new faces and lets the relationship continue in an even more grotesque form.
