2/4 The mermaid wants to see the prince again, so she makes a bargain with the Sea Witch. She gains legs and loses her voice. The change lets her enter his world, but it also leaves her unable to explain who she is or tell him her story. The prince takes her in, and she believes their relationship is real. Then she discovers him with the princess he is already promised to. The bargain has cost her voice without giving her the security or devotion she expected in return.
