3/4 When Morrigan returns, Blagg has him imprisoned. The Dark One offers the broken man revenge in exchange for eternal service and his remaining humanity. Morrigan accepts and becomes Death. He kills Blagg, but he cannot save Esmerelda. That gives Blagg consequences beyond his own brief success. His scheme leaves someone vulnerable to the Dark One, and the resulting bargain creates an enemy Sela later has to face. The dwarf in this story is a calculating participant in court politics, with ambitions that become part of Myst's much larger supernatural conflict.
