13. Angelica and the next generation
Angelica Blackstone, Hellchild, belongs in the larger family discussion as Hades's daughter. Her combination of divine heritage and vampirism also connects this branch of the universe directly to its monster stories.
Her relationship with Hades carries the consequences of a parent's choices. Protection, control, grief, and anger become tangled together. Being the daughter of a god does not spare her suffering, and it certainly does not make their relationship uncomplicated.
Her own story is important because she has to exist beyond his authority. She is a character with her own decisions and conflicts, not simply evidence that Hades has a family. That is a recurring strength of this part of the Grimm Universe: the children are affected by the gods' mistakes, but their lives do not have to be explained only through their parents.
