16/18 Masumi's swords are tied to an eighth sin, Despondency, and to a tragedy within her family. The demon possessed her sister, Akiko. Her father was killed, and her mother bound Despondency into the swords. Akiko's life was bound up with the demon, and she died. Masumi inherits weapons connected to that loss. That gives her relationship with them a very different meaning from simply being a skilled fighter carrying magical blades. The things she uses against demons also carry a demon and the history of what happened to her family. Her power and her burden are tied to the same objects.
