5/18 The Black Death is important here. It is a vampire collective connected to Samira's past, and her conflict with it makes this a story about divisions within vampire society. These creatures don't all share the same loyalties just because they share fangs. There is also a distinction worth making about the book itself. Liesel Van Helsing has backup material in The Eternal, but Samira's main story should not be described as a three-issue showdown between Samira and Liesel. Their presence in the same comic does not make their plots identical. Samira's struggle with the Black Death and Liesel's search for Sela are separate pieces of the wider event.
