HAILEY Hailey's first introduction contains a useful correction. Wulf describes her as a water nymph from Neverland, and she explains that she hasn't actually been there. The connection comes through her mother's side of the family. That distinction matters. Having ancestry connected to a realm doesn't mean a person has grown up there or understands it through firsthand experience. Hailey arrives with a connection to something much bigger than the everyday impression she gives the others. She is comfortable teasing Wulf and responding to his confidence. At the first dinner, the two of them are absorbed in each other while Skye feels left outside their easy interaction. Nobody has to deliver a speech about belonging for the difference to be visible. The lamp scene places Hailey beside Wulf when he shows her what he has taken from Ali. It is one of the early moments where curiosity and casual behavior collide with the reality of magical objects. Her opening role establishes both the family connection and the social relationships that will shape how she fits into the class.
