By Wonderland #29, the story openly describes Cheshire as reformed, working beside Calie and the White Rabbit as she tries to restore the realm. His role has changed: Calie can rely on him as a guard while she learns more about the place she now rules. He has not become a completely different-looking creature for that to happen. There is still the intimidating body, the teeth, and the ability to do serious harm. What matters is where that strength is directed. I also like the ordinary personality that comes through in the exchanges between him, Calie, and the Rabbit. There can be irritation and banter alongside the danger. He gets to exist as someone in the group, rather than only as a threat entering a scene.
