The Jabberwocky’s defeat does not instantly give everyone their lives back. By the time the story reaches the struggles over Wonderland’s future, there are still people fighting for power and people trying to live with the damage. The Ebony Blade matters in that history because it ended his reign, and later becomes a focus of conflict itself. A weapon associated with freeing a realm can also become something ambitious people want to possess. I like looking at that aftermath alongside the original threat. Killing or defeating a ruler is one event. Making a world safe enough to live in is a much bigger problem, especially when so many of its inhabitants have been shaped by what came before.
