The Dream Eater brings a different scale of danger into Grimm Fairy Tales. The conflict that leads to its release is already serious, but releasing it creates a problem that spreads far beyond the people making that decision. Thane goes to the Cave of Shadows during the desperate situation surrounding Grimm Fairy Tales #50. His choice sets the Dream Eater on a course toward Earth. The consequences don’t have to arrive immediately for the decision to remain disastrous. By the time the wider cast is facing it, the issue is much bigger than whether one side can defeat the other in the original war. People across the different stories are caught in something they didn’t choose. The Dream Eater gives a single desperate act a reach that none of those individual stories could contain on its own.
