Pots is one of the original people aboard the ship when Sinbad frees the group, and he stays with them as the crew takes shape. Even his introduction has him using one of his pots in the fighting. Later, in Egypt, he's there with Vu and Wilhelm when a tavern visit becomes a brawl. That scene gives the three of them room to interact outside the larger magical quest. There's trouble to get into before anybody even reaches the next dangerous destination. Pots belongs to that part of the ensemble that makes traveling with this group feel unpredictable. Sinbad can have a plan for where they're going, but he's still leading people who are capable of getting themselves into a situation while the plan is being arranged.
