Angel is an interesting one to go back through because knowing what happens to Warren can almost swallow up the character he was before it. There is a lot of history there before the metal wings, and I want to give that version of him some room instead of treating his entire early life like a waiting period for Archangel. He is one of the original five X-Men. He has been part of this thing from the beginning, alongside Scott, Jean, Hank and Bobby. That matters when those five come back together in X-Factor, because they have years of history with each other before that reunion. They have already seen each other as teenagers, teammates and people trying to figure out what to do with their lives. Warren also comes into it with advantages the others do not all have. He has money, a family name and the ability to move through wealthy society. Then he has these enormous wings that complicate the life everyone expects him to have. He can afford things other people cannot, but he still has to work out how much of himself he can show them. That is a useful place to start with him, especially before everything gets so much darker.
