7/9 Flashback borrows from a future he still has to live Gardner Monroe can bring versions of his future self into the present. That gives Omega Flight numbers without requiring a roomful of separately recruited people. At the mall, the apparent size of the attacking force becomes part of the confusion. There is a built-in danger to that ability which #28 makes brutally clear. These are future versions of Gardner, with a connection to the life the present Gardner still expects to have. When Madison Jeffries attacks Courtney with a machine made from a car, Courtney pulls one of Flashback's future selves into its path. The duplicate is killed. Present-day Flashback is left facing the apparent certainty of eventually becoming the man who has just died in front of him. Courtney's choice also exposes how little protection membership offers. One moment, Flashback's power is useful because it supplies extra bodies. The next, one of those bodies is being spent to keep the leader intact. He has watched a version of his own death, caused by the person he was following, and he has no reassuring answer for what happens when his future catches up with him. https://t.co/9NA7viCoLR https://t.co/PXkvJTPbOE
