6. The shutdown sends them in different directions
Beta's ending is not a scene where all four members fail a final test. The government closes Department H. Puck and Marrina continue with the independent Alpha Flight, while the others are left outside that new arrangement.
Jaxon and Courtney exploit the resentment among the former trainees to build Omega Flight. Courtney's behavior-influencing equipment aggravates the recruits' existing grievances. Jaxon supplies a target: James Hudson, whom he wants them to blame for losing their prospects.
Roger does not share that aim. When his attempt to undermine the scheme is discovered, he is restrained and Jaxon takes control of Box. The robot fighting Guardian in #12 is Roger's creation, but the person directing that attack is Jaxon.
The confrontation leaves Guardian apparently dead and Roger determined to rebuild Box so nobody else can take it over again. In #16 he reaches out to Madison Jeffries, a former Gamma trainee whose powers could help make the changes Roger needs.
The old training tiers have dissolved, but their members keep crossing paths. Puck knows how to stop Flashback. Jaxon steals Roger's means of helping people. Roger, in turn, seeks out someone from the lower tier to make a better Box. He wants the rebuilt machine to help avenge Hudson, not become somebody else's weapon against him.
