Andrew Chord belongs in this thread, but under a different label from the young costumed members. He is part of the New Warriors' support structure and brings military experience into their operations. Treating him as just another founding superhero would blur what he actually contributes.
New Warriors Annual #1 establishes that Cable recognizes him from earlier experience in Africa. That connection gives the adult men a piece of shared history while the younger characters are still trying to understand the people they have encountered.
It is an interesting imbalance. The adults can have information about one another that the people fighting around them do not have. Familiarity between experienced operators does not automatically translate into clarity for everybody else.
Chord also pilots the helicopter during the prison operation. That is a concrete contribution, and it makes the support label useful rather than dismissive. Somebody has to get people into position and keep the operation moving. A vehicle does not stop mattering because most of the attention is on the person leaning out of it.
Separating that work from the member roster gives the team a more accurate shape. Night Thrasher can be its young field leader while Chord supplies experience and practical support. Those roles can coexist without pretending that every responsibility belongs to the same person.
For Kings of Pain, the relevant material is what Chord does alongside the team and the connection the story establishes with Cable. There is no need to drag later explanations or other New Warriors storylines into this snapshot.
He helps show that a superhero group includes more than its most photogenic lineup. The people who handle transport, preparation and advice can affect a mission even when their contribution does not come with an energy blast.
