Silhouette is part of the New Warriors' Kings of Pain cast, but she should not be quietly added to the original six just to make the roster simpler. Teams grow, and a later presence does not need to become a founding appearance in order to count. In this crossover, she gets involved directly. She fights alongside Night Thrasher against Shatterstar and later uses her ability to move through shadows during the prison operation. Those are very different situations, and they give her more to do than stand behind another character waiting for an introduction. The shadow ability is particularly useful because it changes how she approaches space. A wall, a guarded entrance or an opponent's expectation of where someone can be does not mean the same thing to her as it does to the people moving through a room conventionally. That gives her a role other than trying to match the team's strongest flyers. There is no requirement for every member to solve the same problem in the same way. A group becomes more capable when somebody can approach a situation the others cannot. She is also attentive to what is happening around her during the opening battle. The scene is crowded with people concentrating on their immediate opponents. Someone noticing a second danger can matter just as much as someone delivering a harder blow. Keeping Silhouette distinct from the founding lineup helps preserve the actual development of the team. It also gives her participation its own weight. She is here doing specific things, alongside people she already knows, rather than serving as an extra name on a historical checklist. That is a better way to understand her place in this particular crossover.
