The Morlock Healer deserves a place beside these roster spotlights, with his role clearly marked as medical support. He is not being added to the fighting lineup. His contribution matters because the defense depends on someone who would otherwise be in no condition to take part.
Banshee reaches the island badly wounded, and the Healer helps save him. The intervention also restores Sean’s sonic powers. That makes the scene important both to the person lying injured and to the people who will soon need his help outside.
A healing power can become strangely invisible in accounts of a superhero battle. Attention goes to the attack that stops an enemy, while the work that allowed the attacker to stand up again disappears into the background. Here, keeping the Healer in view changes the picture of what the group actually requires.
There are limits even to that extraordinary assistance. The medical conversation does not present recovery as a switch that removes every risk. Sharon’s concern about Sean returning too quickly keeps the distinction between a healing intervention and unlimited endurance in the scene.
The Healer also makes the island’s wider purpose visible. Muir has offered refuge to Morlock survivors, and a member of that community now provides help that others urgently need. The relationship runs in both directions. People who require shelter can also possess skills without which the shelter cannot survive an emergency.
His part therefore belongs in the story without needing a costume change, a battle assignment or an invented membership ceremony. The group’s ability to resist is partly built in a treatment room. A complete account of the Muir Island defenders should leave room for the person working there, even when the cover and the action scenes direct our eyes elsewhere.
