The X-Men finally have a team to come home to again. Storm, Wolverine, Banshee, Forge, Psylocke, Jubilee and Gambit have reached the same place after months of scattered adventures, and Uncanny X-Men #273 gives them a chance to decide what being together actually means. This is the lineup at #273, cover-dated February 1991. The setting is the surviving underground complex beneath Xavier’s ruined school. X-Factor and the New Mutants are there too, but sharing the building does not make everybody a member of the same team. Cyclops and Jean remain with X-Factor, and Cable is still responsible for the New Mutants. Genosha has changed the situation. Uncanny #270–272 provides three chapters of X-Tinction Agenda, with the story continuing through New Mutants #95–97 and X-Factor #60–62. Storm has regained her adult body. The different groups have fought alongside each other, and their separation looks harder to justify after what they have survived. There are also losses and injuries that no reunion can simply put behind them. The new group has a useful spread of experience. Storm and Wolverine bring years of shared responsibility. Banshee and Forge have already been doing the work of finding and helping their missing friends. Psylocke arrives with changes she is still trying to understand, while Jubilee and Gambit bring relationships formed during the scattered period into a larger household. The matching uniforms give that decision a visible form. Nobody becomes easier to live with just by putting one on. There are arguments about leadership, worries about recovery and the very practical problem of too many people sharing too little space. At this point, rebuilding the X-Men means accepting those problems together rather than waiting until everyone feels ready.
