SCP-082: Fernand the Cannibal
SCP-082 calls himself Fernand, and the Foundation keeps him cooperative by pretending he is the King of France. His containment quarters are presented as a palace, and everybody interacting with him has to keep the story going.
That arrangement tells you quite a lot before the description even begins. Ordinary weapons have little effect on him, so maintaining a convincing social situation has become part of keeping him contained.
Fernand is genetically human, although nobody has established what made him grow this way. He stands around eight feet tall, weighs more than three hundred kilograms, and has enormous strength. Scans have revealed bullets and broken blades still embedded in his body from earlier attempts to suppress him.
He speaks French and English, sings while preparing food, enjoys elaborate outfits, and can be polite and sociable. He tells jokes and invites people to dinner. Those details give him a much more distinct personality than a simple description of a giant cannibal would suggest.
Then he can abruptly attack somebody who is standing there talking to him. Having recently eaten does not prevent it. Afterward, he may apologize for interrupting the conversation or making a mess. His idea of bad manners somehow survives alongside the act itself.
The way he understands stories is equally strange. He treats television and films as accounts of real events and wants to meet Hannibal Lecter. Fiction, parody, and satire do not make sense to him, despite strong memory and puzzle-solving abilities.
Yet he understands lying well enough to recognize obvious lies and tell plenty of his own. Asked about his history, he has claimed to be figures as different as Napoleon, Sherlock Holmes, the Hulk, and Big Bird. Those claims should not be mistaken for his actual origin.
There is an uncomfortable uncertainty in dealing with someone who can recognize deception but still accepts the palace performance. The file offers a routine that keeps him agreeable, not a promise that he is safe. His pleasant conversation is genuine behavior, but it gives the person standing beside him very little warning about what he might do next.
