Rahne has a lot to hold together after Inferno. Illyana needs care as a little girl, the old school is no longer a refuge, and Dani is becoming frighteningly ill. Moving into Ship solves the immediate question of shelter without making those worries disappear.
Her closeness to Dani gives the Asgard story an especially painful center. Rahne can communicate with her through the link associated with her wolf form, so reaching Dani seems possible even when everyone else is watching a transformed teammate turn against them. In #79, she tries that connection because she still expects her friend to be somewhere inside the danger.
Asgard also contains Hrimhari. Being around the wolf-prince offers Rahne a kind of recognition she rarely gets at home. Her wolf nature makes sense to him. That is a powerful thing for somebody who has spent so much time frightened by what her own body might mean.
The two relationships pull on the same emotional resources. Dani needs rescuing, Hrimhari is caught in the wider conflict, and Rahne cannot keep everyone safely within reach. The adventure repeatedly separates people who would rather stay together.
She has to negotiate new friendships too. Her first reactions to Boom-Boom's loudness can be harsh. Rictor's explanation that Tabitha uses noise to cover fear gives Rahne another way to understand her. A larger team means learning that distress does not always look like her own.
The useful thing about keeping these issues together is seeing how much work her empathy requires. Rahne cares deeply, but caring does not make her immune to jealousy, misunderstanding or panic. She keeps reaching for people anyway, even when she is frightened of losing them or unsure how to help.
