SCP-059: Radioactive Mineral
SCP-059's blue glow comes with an ecosystem that has very little regard for whatever was living there first.
The mineral produces ordinary radiation alongside a type the Foundation calls delta radiation. After enough exposure, fungus starts growing on nearby surfaces. It doesn't need ordinary food, and living bodies are just as available to it as walls or furniture.
Infected people have their tissues replaced. They also become immune to ionizing radiation, which creates a nasty treatment problem: removing the fungus removes that protection after they've already absorbed a lethal dose. Early treatment usually kills them anyway.
While they can still communicate, infected people describe a world covered in the same growth. They seem pleased with their condition and try to bring others into contact with the mineral. Whether those visions show another reality remains unresolved.
Allow enough fungus to accumulate and another source of delta radiation appears. Eventually, the infected mass becomes transparent and disappears.
The containment procedures have to interrupt that process, not simply shield a rock. There's a whole sequence unfolding around it, from contamination to replacement to disappearance. People undergoing it may welcome the change, which makes their testimony less reassuring.
