It changes to suit its surroundings, consistently presenting something more impressive than whatever is nearby. It outscored the researchers on an IQ test. Around strong people, it's stronger. Leave it with furniture and it can become a particularly attractive couch. Even watching it through a camera doesn't get around the problem. In an otherwise empty room, it becomes a better camera and appears to watch back. The Foundation has never established what its original form looks like. People find it arrogant and irritating, but keep coming back for more conversation. Some want to follow its orders despite disliking it. Others try arguing, only to leave feeling worse about themselves. That makes the last request in the file particularly fitting. SCP-056 wants internet access because the people around it aren't providing enough admiration. It wants a much larger audience. After its violent recovery, that refusal seems sensible.
