Super Sabre moves like somebody who expects the fight to be over before the other person has properly understood it. That confidence is useful against an unprepared opponent and much less reliable against Storm, who keeps thinking while he is rushing ahead. His introduction puts him in the veteran trio with Crimson Commando and Stonewall, before they join Freedom Force. His speed makes escape difficult for their intended victims. He can close a route, strike and reposition before an ordinary person can react, which turns their hunting game into something especially unfair. The details matter more than a speed ranking. He can use the pressure and sound of his movements as weapons, including the small sonic shock that helps subdue Storm. Yet wooded terrain and a carefully placed trap create problems that running faster doesn't automatically solve. Ororo has no weather powers in this encounter, and still forces him to respect what preparation can do. His return brings him into Freedom Force alongside his old comrades. He comes looking for them and makes a dramatic entrance, only for Spiral to catch him. Once again, being the quickest person approaching the building doesn't mean he understands everyone inside it. That introduction also makes his loyalty clear. He has sought out the other two men rather than simply disappearing into his own life. Their shared history remains important even after they enter a larger organization under Mystique. Within Freedom Force, a speedster gives the group reach and reaction time its heavier members lack. But Super Sabre's early stories keep attaching a caution to that advantage: momentum is not judgment. The man can act almost immediately. Whether the action is justified, or whether he has understood the danger, still takes more thought than his speed can supply.
