SCP-055: [unknown] The Foundation has an object it can look at, photograph, describe, and then promptly forget. SCP-055 doesn't have to hide behind a locked door to keep its secrets. People can examine it perfectly well. The information just won't stay in their heads, and attempts to study the records end with attention wandering away from the subject. Even knowing there's a problem doesn't help for long. Somebody rediscovers the file, becomes alarmed, and soon forgets why they were worried. Nobody can confidently explain how it arrived or who ordered its containment room built. That leaves some ugly possibilities. It could be dangerous. It could be watching the Foundation. Those are hypotheses in the article, not established facts, because establishing much of anything is the problem. There is one foothold: people can apparently remember things it isn't. It isn't spherical. Starting with that negative, they can work their way back to recognizing that something exists. The interview keeps slipping away even as they discuss the breakthrough. Imagine trying to work like that. You have evidence, colleagues, and a room you can enter. None of those guarantees you'll remember what you were trying to solve once the conversation ends. https://t.co/ePn9uLOVWn
