SCP-053: Young Girl

SCP-053: Young Girl SCP-053's room needs toys, books, regular meals, and a steel safety cable for anyone who goes inside. She appears to be a pleasant three-year-old girl. People older than three who touch her, make eye contact, or stay nearby too long become paranoid and violent. They turn on other people first, then try to kill her. Anyone who actually injures her dies shortly afterward, while her wounds heal almost immediately. She seems unaware of what's happening and can't explain it when asked. The containment rules make more sense once you know that. Only one person enters at a time. Protective equipment prevents contact, and the visit has to end within ten minutes. The cable gives somebody outside a way to pull the visitor back if things start going wrong. A child can be friendly and still make ordinary human company impossible. Even the adults trying to care for her have to treat a familiar gesture as a potentially fatal mistake. The file never establishes that she's choosing any of this.
