SCP-046: "Predatory" Holly Bush The quotation marks around “predatory” are doing a lot of work here. SCP-046's main file describes a mass of plants in Kentucky that draws sick or badly injured people toward it, then consumes them. The containment rules are brutal. Keep everyone away, destroy nearby vegetation, and prevent anything from reaching its feeding area. Read the restricted document underneath that account, though, and you get a very different description. People arrive seeking relief, remain able to communicate, and voluntarily lie down while vegetation covers them. That version describes a peaceful death rather than an attack. Then you reach the order to rewrite the file. Remove the references to willing participants. Emphasize that the anomaly is hostile. The researcher who objects gets reassigned. The Foundation also raises the possibility that the people defending it have been influenced. The reports conflict. How much faith do you put in a containment document after seeing management tell somebody what its conclusion has to be? The bush is still lethal either way. The part worth arguing about is who gets to describe what happened, and what disappears when the official version becomes the only one most people can read. https://t.co/0w8ScghBYB
