Prism has a body that looks as though it ought to make him untouchable. He is all hard angles and reflected light, with the ability to absorb and redirect energy rather than simply take the hit like an ordinary person. That gives him a useful matchup against a team with Cyclops in it. A direct energy attack isn't automatically the answer when the person in front of Scott can turn that energy into something useful for himself. X-Factor #10 gives him a much shorter lesson in what happens when the next opponent doesn't fight the same way. Jean uses telekinesis to throw him into a hard surface, and his crystalline body shatters. It is a sharp contrast with the impression his appearance creates. Looking solid and resisting one kind of attack don't mean that every part of the body can withstand every kind of force. Jean doesn't have to beat him at the particular exchange he is prepared for. The response from his own side is hardly affectionate. Arclight gets Scrambler out of the fighting and dismisses Prism's fragility. One teammate is worth carrying away; another has just been reduced to pieces and receives a contemptuous assessment of how well he held up. The Marauders aren't suddenly discovering a sense of loyalty because one of their own has fallen. His defeat also doesn't turn the tunnel into a safe place. One threat is gone, but the attack around him is still happening. Jean has found the answer to this particular opponent, but X-Factor still has people to find and get out. Prism's first fight ends on the floor while the rest of the emergency continues around him.
