SCP-040: Evolution's Child

SCP-040: Evolution's Child SCP-040 is a little girl who can reshape living things. She answers to Forty. Her changes range from new colors to entirely different bodies, and the creatures she alters become intensely loyal to her. Her abilities have limits. Wings need a body capable of supporting flight. Complex changes often fail. Working for more than a few minutes leaves her nauseated and in pain. So far, her creations cannot be modified twice. Three creations are allowed to stay with her. One is a living garment, mostly genetically related to a housecat, feeding from her bloodstream. Another floats on gas-filled bladders and produces music. The third is a furry, eyeless creature that climbs walls and sometimes carries her. The Foundation recovered her during a raid on a school. She receives lessons, recreation, and psychological care, but most creatures produced in testing are disposed of after examination. Then an experiment uses three living rats to help her reanimate a human corpse. The result has no memories of its former life and the approximate mental capacity of a toddler. Forty is so distressed that she refuses further testing for three weeks. https://t.co/KNctSVaalR
