SCP-039: Monkey Brain SCP-039 begins with twenty-three proboscis monkeys whose eyes, mouths, and digestive systems have been removed. Skin seals the missing features, yet they remain alive. Their remaining senses are sharper, their intelligence is higher, and some can repair cars. The Euclid-class group came from an abandoned Prometheus Labs facility. A researcher's journal reveals experiments aimed at increasing intelligence by stripping away biological functions. The team taught monkeys to use tools, then moved on to chimpanzees and a human volunteer named Jacob. Jacob, designated SCP-039-A, lost his eyes, nose, mouth, and associated organs. He communicates through typing. He says the procedure ended his hunger and drug cravings, giving him unprecedented clarity. Having previously relied on shelters and discarded food, he considers the exchange worthwhile. Three researchers were found dead with chimpanzee bite marks. The cages had been dismantled. A monkey had been seen carrying tools near the chimp enclosure. Jacob denies knowing how the escape happened. His new life still ends in confinement. The Foundation cannot let him walk around looking as he does, and the man who no longer needs to struggle for food now has nowhere to go. https://t.co/Qs3AcBIXvW
