SCP-037: Dwarf Star SCP-037 is a star about five centimeters across. The Foundation can hold it in place with electromagnets, but it still has to deal with everything a star gives off. Its surface temperature is roughly 5,000 kelvin. Discovered hovering above the Beaufort Sea, the Euclid-class object now sits inside an underground vacuum chamber. Heat passes into the surrounding rock, turning the facility and the Earth's crust around it into a giant cooling system. Burial also conceals emissions bright enough to be visible from high orbit. The problem is that it appears to be aging extraordinarily fast. Changes in its radiation suggest approaching stellar evolution. If the models apply, its radius could increase by a factor of 100 to 300, followed eventually by a nova. The estimated timing and explosive yield are redacted. The emergency planning reaches into NASA's orbiter program: a 1977 memo describes altered requirements allowing room for the star and temporary containment equipment. The same researcher worries that one launch failure could be catastrophic. He proposes sending it into another dimension instead, potentially using its destruction to eliminate another anomaly. Both approaches remain proposals in a file about keeping a star contained. https://t.co/acWoJtZBmu
