SCP-035: Possessive Mask
SCP-035 makes people want to put it on. Doing so causes brain death, leaving the mask's consciousness in control of a body that deteriorates rapidly.
The Keter-class object resembles a porcelain theater mask. It switches between comedy and tragedy, and every photograph, video, and drawing changes with it. Corrosive fluid leaks from its eyes and mouth, eventually reducing whatever it touches to more of the same contamination.
A living host is optional. Corpses, mannequins, and statues work too, but also decay. The personality speaking through them is intelligent, flattering, and persuasive enough to turn researchers into accomplices. It can also read minds without a host, giving it access to weaknesses its handlers haven't spoken aloud.
After repeated escape attempts, the Foundation stops supplying bodies. Conditions around the cell deteriorate. Staff hear whispering, and blood forms writing and violent diagrams on the walls.
An anomalous lining reduces the effects outside but concentrates them inside. Eventually, bloody appendages reach for workers, electronics fail, and the door sometimes traps people in the room. The walls need replacing within a week. The Foundation is considering abandoning the cell and sealing it off from the rest of the facility.
