SCP-031: What is Love? SCP-031 makes a familiar face into something you really shouldn't trust. Its tendrils spread through the Ryugyong Hotel's pipes and air ducts. The pods at their ends can appear to someone as a person they once had a close emotional connection with. They take that person's shape and try to convince the visitor to stay. Getting close allows the organism to digest the victim and absorb their body. Their brain is kept alive and carried back into the central mass. The file leaves open whether those victims are still conscious, which makes it worse. Then the paperwork introduces a completely different problem. Another containment team insists the same hotel houses SCP-1427, with no sign of this creature. The two teams can meet elsewhere, but lose each other when they return to the hotel. A third account finds neither anomaly there. The Foundation can't settle which version is real, or whether something is making all these incompatible accounts possible. That second half expands the story. How do you mount a rescue, or even assess the danger, when your own people can't agree on what building they're standing in? https://t.co/S1sLhVPJI2
