5/6 · Blob · Veteran muscle Blob brings experience with the Brotherhood name, and he expects that experience to count for something. His first problem with Mystique's team is accepting that it does not make him the leader. His complaint about taking orders from a woman earns him a warning from Mystique and very little sympathy from the others. In combat, his strength, resilience and ability to plant himself firmly make him a serious obstacle. Getting past him is a different problem from simply hitting him hard. The X-Men eventually use leverage and the ground beneath him to send him into Avalanche. The early argument also gives him a more recognizable personality than a silent bruiser would have. He is proud, touchy about his standing, and happy to treat past membership as proof that the others should respect him. Pyro and Avalanche have no interest in rewarding that attitude. Mystique has to get them through the quarrel before she can get them into the field. Against the authorities, his confidence is much easier to justify. Ordinary officers trying to intervene are badly outmatched by him. He can keep people occupied simply by being in the way, which is useful when the rest of the team is trying to reach someone behind them. Blob is formidable when the fight stays on his terms, with an opponent trying to shift his body directly. Change the circumstances and his advantage can become somebody else's opening. He also gives this new group a connection to the old Brotherhood without making it a reunion. Mystique has her own plan, her own allies and no intention of letting the veteran dictate the operation.
