I've finished the Gold pass on Backup Restore Rehearsal. Give it a ZIP backup and a SHA-256 manifest, and it checks the files against that manifest before rehearsing a restore in a new disposable directory. You can see whether the bytes you backed up are the bytes you get back, without restoring over your working files. This pass tightened the archive verification and release packaging, with installed-package checks on Linux and native Windows. The Windows checks also covered refusing real symlinks and junctions around restore targets. It stays focused on stored/deflate ZIP backups you select yourself. You'll still need to check whether the application can actually use the restored files, and permissions and other filesystem metadata need their own attention. This gives you a practical rehearsal before you get to that part. https://t.co/ICxikpB4NF
