4/7 Scarecrow: Ebenezer Laughton This is Marvel's Scarecrow, a contortionist and criminal with trained crows. His part in the opening ambush is wonderfully specific. Angel goes after a duplicate of himself, gets drawn into the trap, and the birds drop an adhesive net on him. Warren's ability to fly doesn't help much once his wings are tangled. Scarecrow doesn't need to match Angel in the air. He needs him to fly into the right place. Laughton's flexibility and his birds also help when the authorities try to grab him during the later fight. He's an awkward person to restrain, with a flock ready to make the attempt more difficult. The costume makes him look like something that should be standing in a field. In practice, he's a performer using movement, timing and trained animals to commit crimes. For a crew largely associated with weapons and gadgets, he has a noticeably different approach. An adhesive net and some well-trained birds still manage to take an X-Man out of the fight.
