7. Lupo

7. Lupo Lupo brings animal control to the original Savage Land Mutates, especially his connection with wolves. His appearance also carries that animal association, giving the reader a clear connection between his design and his ability. In X-Men #63, wolves are used against the approaching heroes, with Zabu driving them away. It makes sense for this group to use the wildlife around its base rather than relying entirely on direct attacks from the powered members themselves. Lupo's role also helps distinguish the team from a collection of interchangeable strongmen. He can turn the space around an opponent into a danger. Someone watching only the named enemy may still have to respond to animals coming from elsewhere. He is one of the original seven, with an ability that makes the Savage Land itself part of the fight.
