3. Barbarus Barbarus's four arms give him one of the clearest visual identities in the original Savage Land Mutates. His strength makes him a close-range threat, and the extra limbs make that threat immediately legible without a lengthy explanation of the machinery that changed him. In X-Men #63, Beast gets the better of him during their fight. That encounter suits both characters. Barbarus has the obvious physical advantage on the page; Hank's coordination and fighting skill give him a way to answer it. He is part of Magneto's fighting force, with a body adapted for overpowering an opponent. As an early team design, he gives the group a distinct physical silhouette. Even in a crowded encounter, the four-armed fighter is difficult to confuse with anyone else.
