SCP-022: The Morgue Object Class: Euclid SCP-022 is a hospital morgue in Great Britain. Its anomalous activity began in the 1980s, with the exact year redacted. After receiving reports that November, the Foundation quarantined the site and told the public that the entire building had been condemned. At irregular intervals, one of the morgue drawers opens, revealing a body beneath a sheet. Roughly six minutes later, the body begins moving and attempts to leave. These animated bodies are designated SCP-022-1. Some are too damaged or decomposed to stand. They continue struggling on the table until their movement stops. The table then retracts into its drawer, which closes, followed by a smell of burned tissue. The bodies do not breathe, eat, or sleep, and they produce no body heat. They are stronger than their physical condition should allow. Researchers estimate an additional 500 newtons of lifting force, although direct testing has been difficult. Examinations after the bodies stop moving have found no unusual organs or chemicals that explain their activity. Removing the head or destroying the brain does not stop an instance. When a body is divided, the largest portion remains active and the smaller pieces become inert. Complete tissue destruction appears to be the only reliable way to terminate one. Otherwise, the bodies continue moving for between two days and three weeks, depending on their condition and decomposition. Investigators matched these bodies to cadavers reported stolen from other morgues across the country. How they arrive at SCP-022 remains unknown. Experiments also established that anything brought through the morgue entrance disappears shortly afterward. Nonhuman material reappears in the room above exactly 183 seconds after insertion, damaged and degraded. Metal is heavily rusted, and biological material shows decomposition. Humans do not reappear in that pile. The file states that they seem to become integrated into the morgue. The interview records show what this can involve. Shortly after D-5619 entered and vanished, an instance animated in the body of a young girl. It identified itself as D-5619, and researchers verified that identity through questioning. The instance stopped moving two days later. Three weeks afterward, D-5619's original body animated. This time, the person speaking through it claimed to be an 89-year-old woman. An earlier interview similarly involved a man who remembered a car crash but insisted that the body he occupied was not his own. Current containment uses a locked vault door, security cameras, and automated incineration of instances as they leave the morgue. Living people may enter only for testing authorized by Class-4 personnel. Captured instances must remain within the containment facilities. The morgue's energy source, its method of moving bodies, and the mechanism behind these identity changes remain unexplained. https://t.co/7Nh0hHQoWX
