DEVIL DINOSAUR
Devil Dinosaur joins the adventure in #4, bringing enormous physical presence to a group whose life has been organized around a crowded New York hideout. The pairing with Moon Boy arrives intact; the Angels are welcoming a relationship as well as two individuals.
Back at Beat Street, making space for the newcomers becomes part of the work of living together. A roster can expand in a sentence. A household has to accommodate what those new bodies actually require.
The accident that kills Don makes Devil's size consequential in a way that a battle scene alone would not. Gomi's grief and Bill's anger then become problems the surviving group has to live with. Strength does not provide an easy answer to an unintended injury.
That is where this miniseries leaves its most unusual ensemble: trying to carry the consequences of sharing a life. Its members can cross impossible distances, multiply themselves or tear through obstacles, yet trust and care still have to be worked out between individuals.
Issue anchors: #4–6.
