SIRYN Theresa Cassidy begins Fallen Angels on Muir Island, demonstrating the sustained control that allows her voice to support flight. That opening establishes a trained young mutant before the search for Roberto brings her into the Angels' orbit. Once involved, she often has to turn that competence toward the group's immediate safety. Her sonic abilities and mobility are useful, but the company also needs someone who notices when a dispute has become dangerous or somebody has been left behind. By #5, Theresa and Madrox have reason to reconsider their purely practical relationship with these people. They can see the petty crime and the disorder while also finding themselves attached to the group. Caring about the Angels doesn't make their behavior suddenly easy to approve. Her role grows out of that tension. The person who came to retrieve two runaways encounters a larger collection of people who need help, direction and patience. The assignment becomes less simple as the individuals involved become more familiar. Issue anchors: #1, #5.
