BILL

BILL Bill is the green member of Gomi's lobster pair. Cybernetic enhancements give him capabilities well beyond those of an ordinary animal, and the story allows him to become an active participant in the group's survival. His decisive opportunity comes in #8. With the other Angels imprisoned, Bill remains free and reaches the captives. The member who can be overlooked because of his size becomes the one who can begin getting everybody out. The rescue gives his earlier place in the household a clear payoff. A companion who has been sharing its space and its problems now makes a decision on behalf of the entire group. The others depend on someone who would disappear from a conventional superhero lineup photograph. Bill deserves his own place in this thread because that contribution is specific to him. The lobsters have names, relationships and different outcomes. Treating them as a single accessory to Gomi would miss an important choice the miniseries makes about its cast. Issue anchors: #2, #8.
