GOMI
Gomi comes with an explanation that immediately complicates a mutant-team roster: his force-projecting ability comes from cybernetic experimentation. The same history connects him with Bill and Don, the lobsters who share his life. #3 gives their origins a dedicated account.
His power can produce impressive results, but precise control is another matter. Living with that difference means even ordinary tasks can become difficult. The Angels have to share their space with abilities that are still awkward, disruptive or poorly understood.
Gomi's strongest relationship is with his two companions. Their inclusion asks the group to take forms of attachment seriously that may initially look ridiculous to somebody else. His commitment doesn't depend on whether another member finds a lobster an appropriate friend.
That is an important part of this ensemble's scale. It has room for scientific meddling and extraordinary powers, but also for the smaller work of caring for somebody, understanding their needs and making a shared room feel habitable.
