JEAN GREY: COMING BACK TO A LIFE THAT MOVED ON Jean's return is the reason this team can exist, but there is a whole problem sitting behind the reunion. Other people have lived through things involving her name and her appearance that she didn't experience in the same way. Early X-Factor spends time on that confusion. In #2, she wakes from a nightmare about the Phoenix taking her place. She's back with people she knows, but she's still trying to understand what happened and what changed while she was gone. Scott is part of that. She knows something is wrong, and she doesn't have the information everyone else has. For this opening period, her active power is telekinesis. That also matters when looking at the actual comics instead of bringing every later version of Jean into the same description. She can move objects and people, protect herself and contribute directly to the team's missions. This is Jean rebuilding her place in the world while the people around her are trying to restart something familiar. Issue anchors: X-Factor #1–3, 1986.
