Post 5 of 7 WOLFSBANE: RAHNE SINCLAIR
Rahne Sinclair enters Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (1982) running from people who believe her transformation makes her evil. Moira MacTaggert intervenes, protecting the Scottish girl from a mob led by Reverend Craig. Before Xavier can teach Rahne anything, someone has to make it possible for her to survive the night.
Rahne can become a wolf or take an intermediate wolf-human form. Her power changes how she moves through the world and how the people around her respond to her. For a girl brought up under severe religious judgment, discovering that ability comes with a frightening question about what it means for her own goodness.
Moira’s response offers the beginning of a different answer. She sees a child who needs protection and acts accordingly. The scene gives Rahne an experience of adult authority that can make room for her fear without treating her as a threat to be punished.
That makes arriving at a school an especially delicate transition. Lessons about transformation will sit alongside a much slower process of learning whom to trust. Being told she belongs is valuable; feeling secure enough to believe it will take experience.
Wolfsbane gives the founding class one of its clearest emotional needs. She deserves a place where becoming herself can be met with patience, curiosity and care. The opening rescue makes those qualities essential to the school’s purpose.
