Hepzibah has objections from the moment the Starjammers join the battle in X-Men #107. She distrusts Lilandra, and Corsair has to remind her that they're on the same side for the immediate fight. Joining an alliance hasn't settled what she thinks about the people in it.
She also objects to the name he uses for her. Hepzibah is Corsair's nickname for a woman whose own name he can't properly reproduce. That exchange gives their introduction a small, personal disagreement in the middle of a much bigger conflict. The captain can introduce the crew, but she can interrupt his version.
The nickname comes from an Earth comic-strip character. Corsair has supplied a name familiar to him, and she makes it clear that it isn't hers. Their easy argument suggests they've had this conversation before.
When the danger worsens in #108, she insists on continuing to fight. It's an understandable response from someone who has just helped win a battle, even as the crisis moves beyond an opponent anyone can strike.
She helps Lilandra without pretending to trust her. Corsair needs that cooperation for the mission, but he doesn't get agreement on everything else along with it.
Issues: X-Men #107–108 (1977).
