Post 3 of 5 CH'OD
Ch'od is there in the first glimpse of the Starjammer in X-Men #104, discussing the approaching danger with Christopher. Before the full team steps into the X-Men's battle, the story lets us see these two working through a problem aboard their own ship.
He's a huge, green, reptilian alien, and Corsair speaks to him as an old colleague. Their concern is the alignment of nine stars and what the emperor plans to do when it happens. They already know enough to be worried before the X-Men have even arrived.
He also has Cr'reee, the small companion who draws Nightcrawler and Colossus's attention after the battle in #107. It's an easy moment to overlook among the Imperial Guard and the Crystal. Two X-Men have just met a towering alien fighter, and now there's time for curiosity about the little creature accompanying him.
In #108, Corsair asks Ch'od to contact Waldo, the ship's computer, for a scan of the Crystal. There's practical work to do before anyone understands what they're facing. Ch'od belongs in that exchange as naturally as he belongs in the action.
The ship remains part of the crew's attempt to understand the emergency. Ch'od can call on its equipment while the people on the ground try to work out what to do next.
Issues: X-Men #104, #107–108 (1977).
